Policies

The Medical Center reserves the right to remove any page it finds in violation of the Medical Center policies and requirements. Access to the World Wide Web through the University is a privilege, not a right, and that privilege can be revoked at any time. Links to home pages can be removed at any time.

These policies may be revised at any time without notice. It is the user's responsibility to ensure that they are at all times in compliance with current policies.

Web Server Use

The GWUMC web servers are reserved solely for the use of official GWUMC departments and programs.

Student organizations or individuals who wish to have a web site should apply for an account through ISS on the main campus. See the ISS web site for information: iss.gwu.edu/issservices/webservices/webaccount.

Web Site Accounts

To apply for a web site account, please fill out and fax back the Application for Web Site Account (PDF). Questions or concerns can be addressed by the Web Services Coordinator (web@gwumc.edu, (202) 994-1647).

Domain Names

GWUMC does not generally host web sites other than our current primary sites (see below). Requests for GWUMC to host new domain names are handled on a case-by-case basis. To have GWUMC consider your request, contact the Web Services Coordinator.

Normally, you should contact IMAG for these types of requests. IMAG will work with you to determine whether or not GW will host your desired domain.

Supported Languages and Tools

The GWUMC web servers support the following:

Supported server-side programming languages are CFML and JSP. NO other languages (including .NET, ASP, PHP, etc.) will be installed on the server.

MS Access databases are supported for development purposes only and cannot be used in production.

We will consider installing other software packages on the server, but only after thorough review and testing and with no guarantee of when (or if) they will eventually be installed. To request that Web Services consider other software, please contact Michael Acadia.
