Changing Your Network Password
Question:
A user asks -- how do I change my Network Password?
Answer:
Every two months you will need to reset your Novell InternetWare
Password for security reasons. When changing your password there
are some things that you need to remember:
- Your password can not be one that you've used in the past.
The system will prompt you that you have used that password.
- The password must be five or more characters long. The system
will prompt you if it's too short.
- Be unique. Try to stay away from using names of pets and family
members. Also stay away from using your user ID. Use a series
of numbers, letters, and symbols for your password.
- Remember your new password once you have changed it.
When you receive this screen you must change your password.
Click the Yes button.
The Change Password screen is displayed.
This is where you actually change your password.
- Type your new password in the Enter new password
box.
- Press the [TAB] key located
on the left side of the keyboard, above the [CAPS LOCK] key (or
use the mouse and click in the Retype new password box).
- Retype your new password.
- Click OK button.
You will now receive the Windows Password screen prompting you to change your
Windows 95 password.
You can click on Cancel button when you receive this screen. Optionally you can type in a new password.
- Leave the "Old password" box blank.
- Press the [TAB] key to go to the "New password" box
and type in a password. The password should be the same as your Novell
InternetWare Password to save on confusion.
- Press the [TAB] key once again to retype the password.
- Press the [ENTER] key.
