Where are my documents?

Question:

A user asks -- where are my documents now that I've migrated to the network?

Answer:

The Microsoft Office 7 applications (Word and Excel) have been installed to use the MYDOCS folder on your F:\ drive as the default location for your files.

Documents you copied to the C:\MIGRATE directory on your PC were moved to your F:\MIGRATE folder on the GWUMC Enterprise network.

To use the F:\MIGRATE folder (for example, to open a file in Word):

  1. Choose File on the menu, then choose Open
  2. Click the "Up One Level" button,   highlight the "MIGRATE" folder icon, then click the Open button.
  3. If your files are not displayed, you will need to change the "Files of Type" box (at the bottom left of the dialog screen) to "All Files (*.*)". (Your migrated documents are not using the applications' default file extension - DOC.)
  4. Once you locate your document, click on it to highlight it, then click the Open button.
