I accidentally erased a file
Question:
B.C. asks -- can a file be restored that I accidentally erased?
Answer:
Yes, maybe.
-
If the file was on your PC hard drive (C:\):
-
Double-click on the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
-
If the file is in the Recycle Bin, click once on the file icon to
highlight the file name, choose File from the menu, choose Restore.
The file will be returned to the folder from which it was deleted.
-
If the file is not in the Recycle Bin, you will need to recreate the file.
-
If the file was on a diskette (A:\), you will need to recreate the file.
-
If the file was on your Enterprise Network drive (F:\ or K:\): Contact
the OIT/MTI Technology Support Center at extension 42434. They will attempt
to restore the file(s) from backup tape(s). NOTE: The sooner the Support
Center staff get involved, the greater your chances are for a successful
recovery. That is, files erased three months ago are less likely to
be recovered than files erased three days ago.
