A user asks -- Symbols are coming up whenever I press the space bar and when I press the return key on the keyboard. What can I do to stop this?

Answer:

These are characters that show where the spaces and returns are in the document (something like the reveal codes in WordPerfect). Spaces show as dots and hard returns show as paragraph symbols. They are displayed whenever the "Show/Hide" button on the button bar is depressed.

To turn off the display of these codes, click the  icon on the button bar (located to the left of the the 'view percent').
