GroupWise Notify

Question:

P.G. asks -- can I have GroupWise notify me whenever I receive a message?

Answer:

YES, just do the following steps.

  1. To turn-on GroupWise Notify:
    1. Click the Start button on the Windows 95 taskbar,
    2. Highlight Programs,
    3. Highlight GroupWise 5,
    4. Then click GroupWise Notify.
      1. An icon of a globe will appear on the right-hand side of the Windows 95 taskbar. When you receive a new e-mail message, an envelope is displayed overlaying the globe icon.
      2. You are notified via a window in the upper, left-hand corner of your screen whenever you receive a new mail message.
      3. This notification feature will remain active until you sign-off the network or until you shut down your PC.
  2. To automatically start GroupWise Notify whenever you sign-on to the Enterprise Network:
    1. Right-click on the Windows 95 taskbar,
    2. Click Properties,
    3. Click the Start Menu Programs tab,
    4. Click the Add button,
    5. Type "C:\NOVELL\GROUPWISE\NOTIFY.EXE" (do not include the quotation marks),
    6. Click the Next button,
    7. Scroll down to locate the "StartUp" folder icon,
    8. click to highlight the StartUp folder icon,
    9. Click the Next button,
    10. type "Notify" (do not include the quotation marks),
    11. Then press the Finish button.
      1. The GroupWise Notify feature will install automatically whenever you sign-in to the Enterprise Network.
      2. Placing Notify in your StartUp folder will increase the time it takes to log onto the Enterprise Network. On slower PC's (those with a 486 chip) the time increase may be significant.
