James Burke is currently the Information Technology Director for the Alexandria, Virginia Fire Department and has recently been selected as EMS Battalion Chief for Loudoun County, Virginia Fire and Rescue. He has been an EMS provider for over 25 years.
Burke has broad experience as an EMS provider and manager, having served as a Vice President of a commercial EMS agency, Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Flight Paramedics (IAFP), and Manager of Emergency Communications & Transport Operations at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He served as Children’s Emergency Preparedness Manager, where he helped develop one of the country’s first inter-hospital disaster mutual aid plans and implemented the Washington region’s hospital mutual aid radio system. Burke continues to serve the IAFP as a liaison for governmental EMS initiatives.
