Charge

The committee shall receive and study questions referred to it by the Senate in the area of academic freedom of faculty members and of ethics, and report thereon to the Senate. The committee shall be responsible for developing criteria and procedures for adjudicating disputes arising from interpretation of the University’s Policy on Conflicts of Interest. The committee may provide the vehicle for informal hearings and mediation of disputes between faculty. At the request of a faculty member, the committee will provide confidential advice and/or mediation prior to the faculty member’s filing a formal grievance under the relevant provisions of the Faculty Code. The committee shall meet regularly and make reports and recommendations to the Executive Committee and to the Faculty Senate.
