Faculty Senate: Overview

The faculty governance structure is described in the Medical Center Faculty Organization Plan. It comprises the following organizations:

  • The Faculty Senate is the elected representative body for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the School of Public Health and Health Services. It meets four times a year to consider and pass on matters of academic concern.
  • The Faculty Assembly consists of all regular faculty in both schools. It meets twice a year, in September and March.
  • The Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate is a group of elected at-large Senators that meets monthly to decide on priority issues and to set the Senate agenda.
  • The Standing Committees of the Faculty Senate represent various areas in which faculty may contribute to the schools.
